Serbian mobile operator Vip has appointed Dejan Turk as it new CEO from 1 March.
Turk is currently chairman of the management board of Slovenia’s second-largest mobile operator Si.mobil which, like Vip, is part of the Telekom Austria Group.
He will join CFO Andreas Graf and CTO Dejan Kastelic on the Vip board of directors. Graf is currently serving as acting CEO. Vip claims to have a market share of more than 21% with two million customers.
Announcing Turk’s appointment in a statement, Vip said he has earned “huge credit” for guiding Si.mobil’s steady growth in the face of Slovenia’s challenging economic and political environment.
Turk began his career with McDonald’s Slovenia and became CEO of the restaurant chain in Slovenia and Croatia before joining the Telekom Austria Group in 2004 as head of marketing and sales for Si.mobil. He was appointed chair of Si.mobil’s management board in March 2007.
