The CEO of South African submarine cable operator Seacom has decided to resign from his position to pursue personal interests.
Mark Simpson leaves after two and a half years in the role and will be replaced by Brian Herlihy, the company’s founder and initial CEO.
Seacom confirmed the news, saying: “Mark has lead the business from a successful project finance initiative into a dynamic broadband subsea cable operator.”
Seacom operates a 17,000km subsea cable network. Most of its fibre skirts the African continent, but it also has branches which connect to Europe, the Middle East and India.
