Russian long-distance operator Rostelecom is reportedly in talks to buy a minority stake in WiMAX operator Scartel, Telegeography reports quoting local press.
A stake between 5% and 20% is reportedly up for sale.
Local press reportedly suggested that Rostelecom may be interested in Scartel’s 4G frequencies to replace its LTE spectrum which may be revoked by the State Committee for Radio Frequency Allocations (SCRFA).
State-run industrial conglomerate Rostekhnologii reportedly controls 25% of Scartel.
