Russian national state-owned operator Rostelecom is looking at making acquisitions as well as listing on a foreign stock exchange, according to media reports.
The company is reportedly close to buying 39.87% of Bashinformsvyaz for US$132m. Bashinformsvyaz provides fixed, broadband and pay-TV services in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The deal could close in May or June.
Rostelecom is also considering bidding for satellite broadband operator Raduga. The transaction could be worth US$6m.
Meanwhile, Rostelecom has reportedly applied to the financial markets regulator to float up to a 25% stake on a foreign stock exchange.
Last month, Rostelecom CEO Alexander Provotorov was quoted saying that the listing would probably take place on the LSE.
Rostelecom completed its reorganisation in April, integrating seven regional operators which were previously subsidiaries of state-owned telecoms holding Svyazinvest.
