Canadian handset maker RIM has appointed Kristian Tear as its new COO. Tear, formerly executive vice president at Sony Mobile Communications, succeeds Jim Rowan who, the Canadian company said back in March, had “decided to pursue other interests”.
In a statement, RIM’s CEO Thorsten Heins said the new COO possessed a “keen understanding of the emerging trends in mobile communications and computing.”
