Jan Edvard Thygesen will become deputy CEO and COO of Russian group VimpelCom Ltd on 1 January 2012.
He will replace Khaled Bichara, who will leave his position of president and COO of the company at the end of December as planned, following the integration of VimpelCom Ltd and Wind Telecom.
Thygesen joins from Telenor of Norway where he was executive vice president and head of Central and Eastern European operations.
Bichara has also resigned from his position as executive chairman of Wind Telecom’s Egyptian unit Orascom Telecom Holding. He will also leave this position at the end of the year. A new chairman has not been elected yet.
