Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) is examining a bid by mobile operator Zain Jordan to acquire local ISP Mada Communications, its chief commissioner reportedly told journalists.
Mohammad Taani was quoted saying that reviewing the offer may take some time as TRC is looking to assess the impact of the deal on both the telecoms and internet sectors.
The transaction value has not been disclosed.
According to Zain Jordan, cited by The Jordan Times, this deal is part of Kuwait-based Zain’s efforts to acquire Mada Bahrain, the parent company of Mada Jordan.
Zain Jordan and TRC could not be reached for comment before the press deadline.
