RBC Capital Markets has created a European telecoms equity research unit after hiring a number of analysts from Barclays.
Jonathan Dann has been appointed managing director, head of European equity telecoms research, and will lead the new London-based team.
RBC said Dann brings over 15 years of experience and has consistently been ranked among the industry’s top telecoms research analysts.
For the last five years, Dann has headed up Barclays’ European and emerging markets telecoms research. He previously had spells at JP Morgan, Bear Stearns and HSBC.
Dann is joined by San Dhillon, Mike Bishop and Gonzalo Fernandez Dionis, who have also left Barclays to join the Canadian bank’s team.
Dhillon has been named as a director and will lead RBC’s coverage of the French telecoms sector and of several companies across Central and Eastern Europe.
Bishop, who also joins as a director, will focus on telecoms companies in the UK, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria.
Finally, Fernandez Dionis joins as an associate, specialising in telecom operators across Southern Europe and Latin America.
