Shabtai previously served as CEO at cloud sales software provider MultiPhy and has held executive positions at wireless equipment maker Alvarion Technologies, now part of security solutions provider SuperCom (NASDAQ: SPCB). Prior to that, he served as vice president of research and development at multimedia chipmaker Tiaris.

U.S.- and Israel-based Ramon.Space is an early-stage company focusing on cloud computing power and data center services in space.
“Starting from components all the way to systems … we want to make it simple,” Shabtai previously told Connectivity Business News. “Our target market is really to support new generations of satellite spacecraft that will be powered by software-based systems to give them more capabilities as services drive the new space economy.”
Software-based satellites will prove necessary to keep up with new services as well as ever-evolving existing services in the long term, he said.
“If you want to grow the space economy, you have to allow companies to do Earth-like computing in space without the need to deal with the fact that they’re actually in space,” Shabtai said.
