Indian infrastructure company Quippo has made a Rs30bn (US$538.5m) bid for the towers operated by Bangladeshi mobile operator Banglalink, according to the Economic Times.
Wholly owned by Orascom Telecom of Egypt, Banglalink reportedly controls more than 5,000 towers.
Quippo operates Indian towerco Viom Networks, which has approximately 39,000 towers, together with local carrier Tata Teleservices.
The Economic Times reports that if Quippo acquires the Banglalink towers, Viom will receive a tower management contract.
The Indian towerco has reportedly started seeking tower management contracts outside of India after several of its customers were impacted by the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel 122 2G licences.
Besides Asia, Viom is also reportedly eyeing contracts in Africa.
Banglalink and Quippo were not available for comment before the press deadline.
