US technology company Qualcomm is in the advanced stages of talks with Indian operator Bharti Airtel to sell its local spectrum licences, according to reports.
A sale of the spectrum in the 2.3GHz BWA band, could be worth a reported US$1.2bn-US$1.3bn.
Last year, Qualcomm – together with Global Group/GTL and Tulip Telecom – paid some US$1.05bn for the TD-LTE licences in Mumbai, Delhi, Kerala and Haryana.
Reliance Infotel also owns a TD-LTE licence, while state-owned BSNL and MTNL have opted for WiMax.
Bharti already owns BWA licences in Kolkata, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab.
