Qatari incumbent QTel is considering listing shares in its Iraqi and Tunisian businesses, strategy chief Jeremy Sell has been quoted saying.
Tunisiana, the Tunisian mobile operator 50% acquired by QTel and Princesse Holding last month from Orascom for US$1.2bn, could be listed next summer, he said.
Meanwhile, QTel is starting preparations now for an IPO of shares in Iraqi cellco Asiacell that would take place in two years’ time, he added.
QTel is currently in the process of listing 15% of Wataniya Palestine, which it part-owns. Earlier this week, the company announced that the IPO had been 1.5 times oversubscribed, meaning that US$75m would be raised instead of US$50.
Elsewhere, QTel is one of the five suitors to prequalify in Syria’s 3G licence auction.
