Putin to put in money for Sistema Shyam

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has pledged state aid to Sistema’s Indian unit Sistema Shyam TeleServices.

Sistema is currently considering raising debt to fund elaborate network expansion plans in the country and TelecomFinance sources have said that it is in communion with, among others, SBI Capital Markets for project financing.

Putin, known for is machismo and iron hand in Russia, said: “We are ready to contribute funds for your joint activity,” in response to a question by a Shyam group official at a conference in New Delhi.
