An earlier TelecomFinance report that the Kosovo privatisation committee was seeking to delay the deadline for bids for PTK yet again was confirmed today.
Kosovo’s minister for economics, Besim Beqaj, reportedly told media today that the new deadline is 14 March.
The deadline was pushed back to allow bidding parties more time to finalise their bids.
The minister also confirmed that several previously interested parties are no longer participating. The bidding vehicle of former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was no longer involved in the process, he said. Albright Capital Management had been in a consortium with Portugal Telecom.
Columbia Capital also dropped out, but the other members of its consortium, British Telecom-Poland and ACP Axos Capital are still in the race and will add a new partner, Reuters quoted the minister as saying.
Other bidders previously reported are France Telecom subsidiary Sofrecom together with Twelve Hornbeams and Avicenna Capital, and, bidding without partners, Turkcell, and M1 International.
