Deutsche Telekom and French group Vivendi are close to settling a ten-year dispute over the ownership of Polish mobile operator PTC, according to media reports quoting German magazine Der Spiegel.
The German incumbent is reportedly expected to pay E1bn for Vivendi’s stake in PTC. The transaction could be closed by the end of the year.
Vivendi and Deutsche Telekom have been battling to control PTC since 1999. In 2006, the German incumbent, which already owned a 49% stake in PTC, claimed to have acquired another 48% stake in the mobile operator from Elektrim. But Vivendi vigorously objected, arguing that it controlled 51% of the operator.
Vivendi declined to comment and Deutsche Telekom was not immediately available for comment.
