Russia’s Rostelecom has released a list of nominees for its board of directors which, in contrast to media reports last week, includes current president and CEO Alexander Provotorov.
The state-controlled telco announced today that its board of directors has approved 31 nominations, 11 of whom will be elected at the next AGM of shareholders. AGMs are typically held in June.
Last week, Russia’s Prime news agency cited an unidentified source as saying the government had backed a list of board candidates that excluded Provotorov.
Reports emerged last year that the CEO, whose extended contract runs until July 2015, may be replaced. Recently, Russian news agencies quoted deputy prime minister Arkady Dvorkovich as confirming the government is discussing a management shake-up at the telco.
As expected, the list of board nominees also includes former Tele2 Russia CEO Dmitry Strashnov, state holding company Svyazinvest head Vadim Semenov, VEB Capital chief Yury Kudimov, FK Otkrytie CEO Ruben Aganbegyan and oligarch Arkady Rotenberg, whose investment firm Bellared Holdings recently acquired a 10.7% stake in Rostelecom.
