Polish regulator, the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), reportedly expects to launch the tender process for spectrum in the 1700 to 1800 MHz range in the second half of July.
UKE noted that the consultative process, which ended 31 May, has already attracted high interest, Polish news service rpkom.pl reported.
UKE published its proposals for the tender on its website on 4 January, inviting comment from interested parties.
In an accompanying statement, the regulator said it expected the tender would be open to both established and new operators and be divided into two parts.
The first, aimed at increasing competition within the sector, would offer a single licence in the 1729.9 to 1739.9 MHz and 1824.9 to 1834.9 MHz bands to an operator which does not currently have access to the 1800MHz band.
The second would offer three additional licences in the 1739.9 to 1754.9 MHz and 1834.9 to1849.9 MHz bands.
PTK and Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (T-Mobile), which share network infrastructure, and Zygmunt Solorz group companies (including Polkomtel) currently have 1800MHz band access, UKE stated.
