Perella Weinberg Partners has recruited Nokia’s former chairman and CEO Jorma Ollila as an advisory partner.
Ollila – who was CEO at the Finnish vendor for seven years ending in 2006, and chairman up until 2012 – will focus on advising Perella’s European clients and will not be restricted to TMT.
Perella recently advised Altice on its €13.5bn acquisition of French mobile operator SFR from Vivendi and Liberty Global on its €10bn purchase of Dutch cableco Ziggo.
Joseph Perella, chairman and CEO of the firm, commented: “Jorma is a well-respected executive and he represents everything we prize in a senior adviser. He offers invaluable international business perspective and insight that will be beneficial to both the firm and our clients.”
After leaving Nokia, Ollila became chairman of Royal Dutch Shell in 2013. In addition he has been chairman of Finnish steelmaker Outokumpu Oyj since 2006.
Ollila said he was looking forward to “providing a diverse platform of alternative asset management strategies”.
