Eduardo Gonzalez Martínez, former head of Paraguayuan telecoms regulator Conatel, has replaced Rogelio Benitez as chairman of state-run telco Copaco, local media report.
Benitez, who headed the operator for nearly two years, was forced to resign last week amidst accusations of bribery and wrongdoing.
Copaco reportedly lost around 44% of its subscriber base during the 2012-2014 period, dropping from 395,000 subscribers at the end of 2012 to the current figure of 221,500.
Teresita Palacio has filled Martinez’ former position at Conatel, where she will focus on the upcoming 4G spectrum auction in the 1.700 MHz band. A call for bids is expected by mid-July.
