The CEO of Egypt-based telecoms holdingĀ Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT), Ahmed Abou Doma, has stepped down for personal reasons after less than a month in the role.
Replacing him is Egyptian billionaire and OTMT executive chairman Naguib Sawiris.
Commenting on his new responsibilities, Sawiris said: āWe are sorry that Ahmed was not able to continue with OTMT, but I am eager to take the chance to turn around this unfortunate hindrance into an opportunity to personally lead a new take-off for OTMT with an ambitious new growth strategy.ā
Doma became CEO on 1 October, replacing Karim Beshara, and stepped down on 22 October. He was previously the CEO of Egypt-based Global Telecom Holding (GTH), which was separated from OTMT in early 2012.
OTMT holds various investments in media, technology and telecoms companies which were previously controlled by GTH, mainly in Egypt, North Korea, Pakistan and Lebanon.
