Orange Espana is close to acquiring KPN’s Spanish MVNO Simyo, according to a Spanish newswire report.
Europa Press wrote that France Telecom’s Spanish subsidiary was nearing a deal for the MVNO which would value Simyo at €30m.
Both Orange and KPN declined to comment.
Simyo provides its low-cost services via Orange Espana’s network and has 400,000 subscribers.
KPN has long seen the Simyo assets as non-core. Back in May 2011 KPN CEO Eelco Blok had said that the Dutch incumbent would “assess the options” for its MVNOs in France and Spain.
At the end of last year KPN sold its French Simyo business to Bouygues for an undisclosed sum.
Around the same time last year Spanish media reported that Vodafone was in talks with KPN about the Spanish asset.
KPN still has Simyo operations in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, along with Spain.
