UK-based mobile operator Vodafone has promoted Anne O’Leary to CEO of the company’s Irish operations.
O’Leary was previously director of Vodafone Ireland’s enterprise business unit, and she joined the group in 2008 from fixed line telco BT Ireland.
She replaces Jeroen Hoencamp, who left to join Cable & Wireless Worldwide after it was acquired by Vodafone last year.
Last year also saw Vodafone Ireland snap up the largest portion of 4G frequencies in the country’s spectrum auction. The operator paid €160.8m up front, and will pay an additional €119.7m for the right to use the frequencies until July 2030.
Its local competitors are telecoms incumbent Eircom, Telefonica, Vodafone and Hutchison 3G.
