UK communications regulator Ofcom has published proposals for its statutory report on the UK’s communications infrastructure, and is seeking consultation on national mobile and broadband coverage.
The report will refer to emerging technologies, touching upon topics such as the rollout of superfast broadband to identify areas of increased investment. Other themes will include network infrastructure sharing and wholesale arrangements between communication providers, as well as a comparison of UK networks and services with those of other countries.
Under The Digital Economy Act 2010, Ofcom is required to produce a report every three years on the state of the country’s landline, broadband, mobile and broadcast networks and services.
Ofcom intends to publish the first report in autumn 2011.
