The Czech competition authority, UOHS, has launched a probe against telecoms incumbent Telefonica O2 CR over potential abuse of market position in the ADSL broadband segment
The authority said it would examine possible violation of Czech and European law.
Telefonica O2 CR head of investor relations Jakub Hampl was quoted saying in Reuters that the UOHS requested information regarding wholesale pricing in 2005.
Meanwhile, alternative operator Volny is suing the telecoms operator reportedly seeking Kc4bn (US$230m) in damages for abusing its dominance on the ADSL market.
Although it concerns the same issue, Volny’s legal action is reportedly independent from the competition authority’s investigation.
The companies were not immediately available for comments.
