Telecom New Zealand announced that it has submitted a plan to the government of New Zealand to build a national broadband network which involves splitting the company in two. TNZ said it had submitted a confidential plan to the government to build its NZ$1.5bn (US$1.1bn) proposed plan to supply high speed internet through fibre to the majority of New Zealand homes. It said the plan was dependent on splitting off its network operations itself with its preference being a demerger.
