The Belgian unit of French cable operator Numericable is planning to add mobile services to its product portfolio. It told TelecomFinance: “Numericable plans to add a mobile component to its best in class 3P offers and is currently investigating several options: MVNO, 3G and 4G. Possibly with partners.”
This a report on the Belgian website Express.be on Tuesday that Numericable’s CEO, Dormal Pascal, had said that Numericable wanted to add mobile to the products that it offers.
In Belgium, the operator currently provides cable TV, broadband internet and fixed-line telephone services.
Dormal reportedly said that the options available included obtaining a mobile licence and partnering with another mobile operator.
Belgium is holding a 4G licence auction this year, but the deadline for operators to submit their interest was in early February.
TelecomFinance reported on Wednesday that the Belgian cableco Telenet was negotiating with Numericable to acquire its assets in Belgium and Luxembourg.
The Walloon cable operator Voo and the local businessman Philippe Lhomme are also reportedly interested in acquiring the operations.
Numericable’s asserts in Belgium and Luxembourg have been valued at between E300m-350m.
