Japanese telco NTT Docomo has said it will increase its shareholding in mmbi, a terrestrial broadcaster of services on mobile phones, to 60.45%.
To achieve this, the company will purchase an additional 584,380 mmbi shares for Y29.219bn (US$375m).
Docomo currently owns 51% of mmbi shares.
“Docomo, which is transitioning into an integrated service company placing mobility at the core, will continue to fully support mmbi’s ‘NOTTV’ broadcasting station for smartphones, by offering compatible handsets to Docomo customers,” the company said in a statement.
