German industrial conglomerate Siemens is considering listing European vendor Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), its JV with Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia, according to media reports.
Siemens CFO Joe Kaeser reportedly said last week, at an investment conference, that the IPO would take place in the medium term, not in the short term though.
Late October, Nokia had already said that it was willing to engage in discussions with potential buyers for its stake in struggling NSN.
The JV also tried to strike a deal with private equity firms. On 30 August, NSN CEO Rajeev Suri had released a statement acknowledging the JV had received approaches from a “handful” of private equity firms interested in acquiring a stake. According to Suri, the interest was thanks to NSN’s recent strong performance.
