European vendor Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) is delaying its acquisition of the network business of Motorola because it is still pending anti-trust approval from Chinese regulators.
In a statement yesterday, NSN said that the deal would not be closed in Q1 2011 as it had previously targeted.
It said that the proposed acquisition had entered phase three of the review process with the Anti-Monopoly bureau at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).
It added: “Nokia Siemens Networks remains committed to the acquisition but will provide no further guidance on when it is likely to be completed.”
The deal has received anti-trust approval from other regulators around the world, including the EU and US.
Chinese vendor Huawei, which had worked with Motorola in the past, recently won an injunction in a US District court that prevented Motorola from providing any of its confidential information to NSN.
The injunction did not stop the deal from going ahead.
Motorola said at the time of the injunction that it was still aiming to get approval for the deal in Q1 2011.
