Finnish vendor Nokia announced that it has acquired US based MetaCarta Inc, a privately owned company which employs over 30 people and has expertise in geographic intelligence solutions.
Nokia states that MetaCarta’s technology will be used in the area of local search in location and other services.
No financial details have been disclosed.
Separately, Nokia stated that it has completed the acquisition of Novarra Inc, a deal initially announced on March 26.
Novarra’s mobile browser and services platform will be used by Nokia to deliver enhanced internet services to Nokia handsets.
