Iranian telecoms watchdog, the Communication Regulation Agency, will not offer another 3G licence for at least three years, according to local news source AMEInfo. Lotfollah Sabouhi, the agency’s executive vice president, stated that Tamin Telecom will remain the country’s only 3G licence holder for another three years, after which time a second operator will be allowed to enter the market.
Sabouhi said the market would eventually be opened up, since Iran wanted an expansion of 3G services.
