Nine companies have been qualified to participate in the Dutch auction for 2.6 GHz radio spectrum, which will start on April 20, Telecompaper reports.
Candidates had to submit their applications by 8 January and the concessions are expected to be awarded in May or early June.
The government reportedly hopes to attract three new entrants into the market.
The auction covers the frequency 2500-2690 MHz and 2010-2019 MHz bands. Both bands are available for delivering speech, video, internet and data services and in the 2500-2690 MHz band UMTS-LTE and WiMAX technologies can be used.
