The telecoms project director of Proinversion, a government agency that promotes private investment, has said that an auction in the 1,900MHz band will be held in late January.
The spectrum auction was due to be held on 23 December, but was delayed.
Jesus Guillen told TelecomFinance that the new version of the concession agreement will be released on 21 January. The winner of the bid will be announced on 27 January,.
He said that the winner would be the bidder that offers the most access to Peruvian schools over the next 10 years.
The minimum number of schools must be 1350.
Last year, Guillen said that the sale was aimed at bringing in a fourth operator to the Peruvian market and increasing competition.
The Peruvian government attempted to sell the same spectrum last year, but failed to attract any bidders. Guillen had been reported by BN Americas saying that several bidders have expressed an interest this time round.
