A major shareholder in Kuwait operator Zain has said that the deal for UAE incumbent Etisalat to complete its acquisition of a 46% stake in the company has a new deadline of the end of January, according to media reports.
According to the UAE newspaper the National, the new deadline was revealed by the chairman of the Kharafi Group, Nasser al Kharafi.
Etisalat’s original offer deadline passed on January 15.
Al Kharafi also reportedly criticised the attempt by Turkish conglomerate Cukurova to acquire a stake of 29.9% of Zain, accusing it of trying to sabotage the deal with Etisalat.
