NII Holdings, owner of Nextel that operates across Latin America, has appointed Juan Figuereo as CFO.
He will be responsible for leading the company’s finance organisation and replaces Gokul Hemmady who was appointed COO of the US-based company in June.
Hemmady continued as NII CFO and will stay in this role until 17 October when Figuereo takes over.
Figuereo is new to the telecoms industry, having previously held roles at Wal-Mart and PepsiCo.
“With approximately 25 years of international experience in finance, strategy and senior leadership, he brings a wealth of knowledge to NII and will be a strong addition to our executive team,” said CEO Steve Dussek.
NII Holdings’ Nextel brand offers mobile communications services to business customers in five LatAm countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru.
