NBN Co, the company tasked with rolling out Australia’s national broadband network, has picked Stephen Rue to fill the position of CFO as of 1 July.
Rue previously spent 17 years at News Corp Australia, including a decade as CFO. At NBN Co, he will replace Robin Payne.
The new appointment follows a string of executive changes since the new government came into power last autumn.
Bill Morrow joined as CEO early this year from mobile operator Vodafone Australia.
Before that, Greg Adcock and JB Rousselot were appointed as COO and head of strategy, respectively. They previously both worked for incumbent Telstra.
Under the new NBN plan, the coalition government aims to expand high-speed broadband internet access to all Australians by 2019 at a cost of US$19bn.
