VimpelCom has appointed Taras Parkhomenko as the CEO of Kazakh subsidiary Kar-Tel, which operates under the Beeline brand name.
Previously chief marketing officer and a board member for Ukranian mobile operator Kyivstar, another VimpelCom unit, Parkhomenko is set to start his new role on 1 February, according to a company announcement.
Parkhomenko succeeds Sergei Mironov, who started in the role in March 2012 but has decided to return to Russia.
Commenting on the appointment, VimpelCom vice president for business development in the CIS group Dmitry Kromsky said Parkhomenko played an important role in strengthening Kyivstar’s position in the market. He described Kar-Tel as one of the group’s most effective business units.
Parkhomenko has previously worked for Golden Telecom and started with Kyivstar in 2006.
