Morten Karlsen Sorby has been named CEO of Indian mobile operator Uninor, two months after Yogesh Malik left.
Sorby, who takes over from interim CEO Sigve Brekke, will fill the position with immediate effect.
Brekke will continue to serve as head of parent company Telenor’s Asia operations.
Sorby joined Telenor in 1993 and most recently served as executive vice president in charge of corporate strategy and regulatory affairs.
Last year, Telenor ended its joint investment in India with local real estate group Unitech following a bitter dispute. It has since found a new partner in Lakshdeep Investments & Finance and owns 74% of Uninor.
