Swaim had been appointed in December last year “while the board was in the process of recruiting a substantive chief executive officer,” according to a company statement.
Prior to joining Telecel, Mawindi held various positions at Sprint, Verizon and France Telecom.
Mawindi has worked in the telecoms industry for more than 20 years, according to the statement. His experience includes strategic planning, global business development and operations, project management, financial analysis, and planning and supply chain management, including budgeting and forecasting.
Telecel is majority-owned by Egypt’s Orascom Telecom.
