Andreas Bierwirth will take over as CEO of T-Mobile Austria, replacing Robert Chvatal.
The current head of the mobile operator has decided not to seek a third term, Telekom Austria said.
Bierwirth, who will take over on 1 September, was previously an Austrian Airlines executive.
He worked as deputy MD for airline Eurowings since 2002, where he was in charge of the rebranding and repositioning of the Lufthansa subsidiary. He headed the airline, later renamed Germanwings, since 2004. From 2008 he worked at Eurowings parent Lufthansa and, from 2009, as Austrian Airlines CFO.
Chvatal said he wanted to spend more time with his family. He will stay with T-Mobile Austria until late October, to help with a smooth handover.
