British telecoms incumbent BT has named Joris van Oers as the CEO of its Benelux operations, covering the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
His appointment is effective as of 1 September, according to a company statement.
Oers joins the company from De Telefoongids Holding, the Dutch branch of European Directors, where he was CEO.
Oers started his career at Dutch operator KPN where he held a number of senior positions.
At BT, he will replace Edwin Hageman, who has decided to pursue other opportunities, according to the statement.
BT claims to operate more than 5,700 km of fibre network in the Netherlands and a 1,100 km fibre backbone in Belgium.
This executive change follows the recent appointment of Ciaran Barr as CFO of BT’s Irish operations. He replaces Adam Baird, who has been appointed CFO of BT Enterprises.
