VTC Telecom and Dong Duong Telecom, two Vietnamese MVNOs, have blamed fierce competition in their native market for the delay in launching 3G services, reported local paper VietNamNet.
Both companies were reportedly looking to offer services in the first half of 2010 but explained they experienced difficulties in developing customer bases and marketing strategies to compete against other operators.
According to reports, VTC planned to offer services on EVN Telecom’s network, while Dong was looking to partner with Viettel.
Both EVN and Viettel are state-owned, although EVN is currently being part-privatised by selling a stake in itself to FTP.
