Russian operator MTS may use its own shares to buy out minority shareholders of fixed-line operator Comstar UTS, Dow Jones reported quoting local press.
The company already owns a 61.97% stake in Comstar but a manager at parent company Sistema was quoted saying that a merger would be necessary to achieve synergies.
However, to merge the company MTS would have to buy out minority shareholders or obtain three quarter of Comstar’s shareholders to approve the transaction.
