Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL), which operates under the MTS India brand, has appointed Dmitry Shukov as its new CEO.
Shukov will take over from Vsevolod Rozanov on 1 June. He was previously CEO of MTS Turkmenistan and MTS Uzbekistan, which recently filed for bankruptcy protection.
According to a company statement, Rozanov will be appointed to a senior position within Russian conglomerate Sistema JSFC, the parent company of the Indian mobile operator.
In March, MTS India won spectrum in 800MHz band for US$665m. “The company recently also made its long-term intention known in the market, i.e. to play a key role in the LTE landscape in India,” according to the statement.
