South African telecoms group MTN has appointed Ahmad Farroukh to the newly-created position of group chief operating executive (GCOE).
Currently acting vice-president for the West and Central Africa region and CEO of MTN Nigeria, he will debut in his new role on 1 April 2012.
The CEOs of local subsidiaries in Iran, Ghana, Sudan, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Syria, and Cameroon will report to Farroukh.
