US based telco Motorola could look into selling or setting-up a JV for its mobile network infrastructure business, the firm told the Financial Times.
Motorola Handsets, which consists of the handset and infrastructure divisions, is set to be demerged and take up a separate stock market listing from the rest of the group early next year. The two demerged divisions, both to be headed by current Motorola co-CEO Greg Brown, will be run separately so that Motorola can sell or find a partner for the mobile network infrastructure unit, which has been valued at between US$1bn and US$2bn.
A sale is by many seen as the most likely scenario, although Brown told the Financial Times that the telco will explore all options.
