US vendor Motorola has sold off its European cable modem firm EuroDocsis unit to Taiwanese based Compal Broadband Networks.
The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed. EuroDocsis is thought to have annual revenues of approximately US$50m.
EuroDocsis is Motorola’s customer premises equipment business and the deal is believed to include the unit’s modems, WiFi gateways and multimedia terminal adapters.
Motorola is currently also said to be working on the sale of its Home & Networks Mobility unit, the division which Docsis is a part of. The total Home & Networks unit is believed to carry a price tag of around US$4.5bn, but many believe Motorola will not sell off the company as a whole, but rather in smaller parts.
