Morocco’s telecoms regulator will launch its auction process to allocate spectrum suitable for providing 4G services next week.
The ANRT will publish details of the spectrum it will auction, the reserve price, the conditions attached to the licences and the bidding rules, according to local newspapers.
The long-awaited process kicks off on 17 November, far later than the regulator had originally planned.
In May 2013 Azdine El Mountassir Billah, head of the ANRT, was quoted telling reporters the tender offer would be launched within the next few months and 4G services would be rolled out in 2014.
Etisalat’s Maroc Telecom dominates the country’s mobile market, followed by Orange’s Meditel and then Inwi, which Zain holds a stake in.
