Belgian operator Mobistar is not on the market, its CEO has said, dismissing reports that the company might be a takeover target.
During a conference call today, Jean-Marc Harion was quoted as saying that the company, and its majority shareholder French incumbent Orange, have no plans to sell the telco.
In early May, Belgian newspapers wrote that telecoms holding Altice was eyeing four targets in the country including Mobistar and rival player Base, as well as cablecos Tecteo and Brutele.
Altice previously operated in Belgium and Luxembourg via its Numericable subsidiary. The cableco is still present in France where it recently bought local mobile operator SFR in a €13.5bn deal.
