Orange Luxembourg interim CEO Werner De Laet is set to remain in the position permanently.
CFO of Belgian telco Mobistar, De Laet also took on interim CEO duties at Orange Luxembourg in mid-January following Patrick Ittah’s departure, Mobistar said in a statement. Both companies are part of the France Telecom-Orange group.
De Laet officially becomes CEO of Orange Luxembourg on 15 May and will remain on the Mobistar executive committee. He will continue as CFO of Mobistar until its next general assembly of shareholders on 2 May.
De Laet said he quickly recognised Orange Luxembourg’s “entrepreneurial spirit” and welcomed the opportunity to lead the team in realising their ambitions and “re-enforcing the company’s image as an innovator in the [local] telecommunication market …”
De Laet joined Mobistar 15 years ago and has been CFO for the past seven years.
“Without losing sight of the long term vision, he succeeded in safeguarding as much as possible the shareholders’ value,” Mobistar stated. “Supported by a strong team of financial experts, he showed a transparent, reliable and committed leadership, including close contact with the investor relations community.”
A search for a new CFO of Mobistar is underway.
